edit a running-config in a text editor

After trial and error I now understand I cannot remove a single line within an

access list but...

Could I tftp the running config to a file, edit it using Word(It seems to be viewable) removing just the line I want to remove and then tftp that back to the router? Thanks

do you really need to use tftp ?

what I usually do is copy paste the ACL into a text editor, then remove the line, then enter a 'no access-list ...' and finally copy paste the new (modified) ACL into the telnet/console session.

As you can see, you need to remove the ACL before inserting the new one.
