EIGRP Dual-3-INTERAL Error

Hello folks,

A customer is using 7206 Routers and along with them EIGRP.

Lately EIGRP creates a quite large CPU load and creates the following message:

Apr  2 02:37:12: %DUAL-3-INTERNAL: IP-EIGRP(0) 1234: Internal Error,  -Traceback= 0x185D320 0x19B0F48 0x19C5D90 0x19C653
C 0x1E52424 0x1E52658 0x1E5EEA8 0x1330A74

I've looked through the error code information page, but could only find code 1, but not 1234.

The IOS in-use is Version 12.4(15)T7.

I appreciate every hint to solve this problem.

EDIT: Fixed the IOS version.

Hi,

Following error messages for EIGRP says

DUAL-3-INTERNAL: IP-EIGRP Internal Error—This message indicates that there is an EIGRP internal error. However, the router is coded to fully recover from this internal error. The EIGRP internal error is caused by software problem and should not affect the operation of the router.

Thanks for your reply, but I've already seen that one, which isn't very helpful...

More informations, he is using the 7206s as HUBs for a DMVPN Network with 340 Spoke Routers.

The spokes have lost the connection to both of the HUB Routers, but a ping to the tunnel interface was successful..

I've found the following in the Bug Toolkit and will look into if this applies to the customer's problem.

CSCtd86572            Bug Details

DMVPN EIGRP next hop update not sent to spoke
Symptom:
DMVPN EIGRP topology hub does not update spoke with new next hop information for prefix with equal cost paths.

Conditions:
Dual hub setup where each spoke only peers with one hub and hubs exchange information. Equal cost path next hops are on two spokes off the same hub. Hubs are configured with "no ip next-hop-self eigrp"

Workaround:
Clear EIGRP neighbor on spoke that has stale next hop
