Hello,

when I do a show startup or show run, I have got the follow error :

SWITCHROUTER#show startup-config

Using 6878 out of 126968 bytes

%Error opening nvram:/startup-config (File table overflow)

IOS (tm) L3 Switch/Router Software (CAT4232-IN-M), Version 12.0(10)W5(18f) RELEASE SOFTWARE

IS it a bug ? (similar as CSCds44607)

Do we have to change the card ?

Thank You.

Best Regards.

Hello !

I have been doing some investigations regarding this issue and it seems to me that you are hitting bug# CSCds25462 Externally found moderate defect: Resolved (R) nvram file table overflow

When a 'show config' is executed the nvram file is opened in read only mode. The file contents are dumped to the console/terminal connection. However, ins some occasions, when the file is closed, the file descriptor is not destroyed when in this read only mode and renders the file unusable. The result is like you have seen, that you can't write to the nvram again and you get an error of (File table overflow).

The work-around is to reload the box and you may of couse lose configuration changes. However since the above mentioned bug is fixed since 12.0(13)W05(18.73). If you agree to upgrade I advice you to move to 12.0.25-W5.27b from CCO which has this fix as well as fixes for other known bugs on this platform.
