FEC issue

Hello,

I want to configure a FEC in a 4000.

The problem is that while i know the FEC parameters of the peer device

(Pagp,media type,speed,duplex,trunking,allowed vlans) we still don't know

the number of ports that peer will use for the FEC (is not defined yet).

So, i have to configure my side (4000) and send the device to the site where

it will be powered on and connected to the peer device.

In case that the other device uses less ports for the FEC than 4000 does(i have configured

6 ports), will any of my ports which will not connect to peer's FEC ports(but in any other peer's port) stay enabled and operate as individual ports or will be placed in a "standby" mode?

*In both devices ALL ports are in access mode.

THANKS.

Hi,

LACP's specification states that if a link (port) does not Rx any LACP

frames for a time period equal to "expire timer"

or the LACP frames received indicate different

remote LAG(link aggregation group),then the link is

treated as a normal 802.3 link t.e is not aggregated

to the Etherchannel but operates as normal.(Here, take care of STP path cost)

For PAGP i "guess" should be the same.

(So to be sure, change both sides to LACP)
