Has anyone ever used the HighAvailability Feature of the Hybrid CatOS on a Cat6K to do the software upgrade ? If so, how reliable is it ? Any gotcha's encountered ?
I have a dual SUP/dual MSFC configuration.
SUP's are being upgraded to CatOS 5-5-13a from 5-5-7
MSFC's are being upgraded from 12.1(7a)E1 to 12.1(8b)E9
I would like to confirm the following:
Would the CatOS images still be considered compatible ?
Also could I upgrade the SUP and MSFC's at different times ( specifically , upgrade the MSFC a day prior to upgrading the SUP's)

You can upgrade MSFCs independent of the supervisors.
Now, you are asking is CatOS is still considered compatible.... With what ? If is with MSFC, Yes.
Yes, you can upgrade the supervisor with HA enabled. I would suggest turning of HA versioning if enabled.

I tried the hitless software upgrade procedure on the SUPs but never did get a High availability switchover ( under 3 seconds) . Instead I got a fast switchover. I had enabled HA versioning however once I upgraded the standby Sup with the new version ( 5.5.13a) it turned the operational status of HA off.
The reason: the 2 images ( 5.5.7 and 5.5.13a ) were not HA compatible.
Does this mean HA compatibility applies to 2 successive releases only ?
