How to get Port Security auto shutdown logs in by email using ciscoworks2k

Dear all,

I would like to implement port security max-age-count 1 and port security action shutdown for all of my network ports of switches 6509 and 3548 switches for security reason.

My question is how I as administrator get emails when ever any port got valuated by any walk in man with his laptop or any body of our staff with they laptops. So that I can take preventive action to find out the cause.

I am using ciscoworks2000 for managing all of my devices and enabled email facility from the ciscoworks2000 server.

The help will be highly appreciated.

Hi,

are you receiving any SNMP trap or Syslog message in the case "when ever any port got valuated"?

If yes, you can use either DFM -> Fault Notification -> Mail Notifier or RME -> Administration -> Syslog Analysis -> Define Automated Action with Command line using perl script to send an email to you.

Detail instructions and examples are included in RME and DFM manuals and helps.
