Hello all, I currently have 2 WS-X4232-L3 router blades in my 2 4006 chassis. They are both in my CORE network. I am deploying 2 brand new 4506's each with a SUP V. Would it be possible to add my L3 HSRP redundancy to the
2 new SUP V's without disrupting the existing HSRP routers? I will be making these 2 new routers as part of the standby state as their role in my HSRP groups?
P.S. these 2 new 4506's will be in the Distribution layer of the LAN. (Where they should have been in the first place, per Cisco recommended design for intra V-lan routing).
any help is appreciated.
Thanks!

You can do that. With HSRP one device is active, one is standby, and all others will be listen state.

Cool, thanks. I'll lookup some HSRP design best practices or some sample HSRP configs on cisco.com. I assume the configuration will be similar to the current active & standby configs but if I understand you correctly, they will automatically fall into listen state.
Thanks so much shanky

Configure the active router's priority properly so that other routers will automatically fallback to Listen and standby states.
