I have a printer thats connected to a hub that's not working. When I unplug the printer from the network should I still see this entry in the arp table even though I cleared arp and cache. I checked the gateway and mask for errors.

The short answer is no. The title of this post is throwing me a little. If your printer in unplugged and you're pinging the printer, you will get an incomplete entry in the arp table (without a mac address) If you are getting a mac addr then compare the arp entries before and after removing your printer. You may have a duplicate IP on your printer, and when you remove it, the arp entry goes to the other IP entry.
