I am troubleshooting interface resets on a 3660 connected to a 3550 over Fast Ethernet. I have hard coded both sides for full duplex and 100Mbit. The 3660 is incrementing interface resetes about 4-6 times a day and the 3550 is clean. I have noticed this in other similar configurations as well. Is anyone else seeing this and if so, is there a solution?

Hello,
according to CCO, ´the interface resets counter counts the number of times the port reset itself, generally the result of link up or link down transitions´. The strange thing is that you only see the counter increasing on one side of the connection...you could try and change the cable, or use another port on the 3660, if possible. Are there any other counters with abnormal values, such as the CRCs, or the input errors ?

GP

No, unfortunately there are no other errors. Strangely, I am seeing the same thing in other similar configurations. I am beginning to wonder if the interface resets are false.

Hi,
Interface resets can be results of buffer full also.
Are you seeing packet drops in show interface output ?
