Hello and Good Morning

On the switch you are connected to, does the prompt look similar to this:

switch>

If so, we need to type in "enable" to go into privileged mode, where the prompt will look like this:

switch#

If we are in privileged mode (as above), we would need to go into configuration mode, using:

configure terminal

and the prompt should change to this:

switch(config)#

From here, we can change the hostname, using the commands mentioned in the original post.

I just hit ? and got a list of commands that I could use.

Best of luck to you

M

After enable , now shows

switch#

But when i type configure terminal its show same  " % Invalid input detected at '^' marker. "

It is a very old discussion which you have adopted to ask your question. And I believe that the advice given was not good advice. The list of commands in the original post were all show commands, and you certainly do not need to be in config mode to issue show commands.

Can you tell us what device you are doing this on? And perhaps post the actual output of the attempted command and the resulting response?

HTH

Rick
