IP addressing

Hello,

I have four 2610 routers going in connected by private T1's. What ip address structure do you recomend I use for the T1 side of the router? I was thinking of using 10.0.1.1, 10.0.2.1, 10.0.3.1, 10.0.4.1 but when I put this config into the config maker software it tells me to choose a different subnet. Any suggestions for an ip scheme?

Thanks in advance.

Mike.

If each router T1 only connects to one other router (ie point to point) at each end of the link use the mask 255.255.255.252. It will only allow 2 hosts per subnet, so one end will be 10.0.1.1 255.255.255.252 and the other will be 10.0.1.2 255.255.255.252.

If they are all to be connected together (ie point to multipoint) you can use 10.0.1.1, 10.0.1.2, 10.0.1.3, 10.0.1.4 with a mask of 255.255.255.248 (allows room for small expansion).

Hope it helps.

The three range of IP addresses which are for private use are

1. 10.0.0.0 255.0.0.0

2. 192.168.0.0 255.255.255.0

3. And the third is a class B address.(172....Range.)

It doesn't matter which one you use.But you need to be careful the the subnetting. I think in my presonel view you need to check the subnetting.
