Need a brief on L3 features like sup,fwsm,msfc,idsm etc..

Hi Aksher,

Question is what exactly you want to know. As these modules are used for different purposes.

SUP only is used for layer 2 just for switching

FWSM is used for firewall purpose in the chassis

MSFC is the routing daughter card which when fixed on sup the layre 3 functionality can be achieved and CEF can be also configured.

IDSM is just a intrsion detection device on chassis for enhanced monitor purpose.

What exactly you want to know?

thanks Ankur,does the chassis comes with all these features or it needs to be added? can all the functionlities be done simultaneously?

Hi Aksher,

Chassis just comes empty but yet if you happen to but all modules yes you can insert it and get it work simultaniously.
