LAN to LAN problem

We have a dial on demand connection between to networks with a 1603 and a 765 router. When the 1603 connects to the 765 everything works fine. But when the 765 connects to the 1603 there's no IP traffic possible between the networks. The connection does exist however. It's not even possible to ping the the ISDN side of the 1603.

Anybody seen this before, and has a helpfull hint?

The older 700 software supported a proprietary layer 2 protocol called CPP (Combinet Point-to-Point Protocol) that some earlier IOS releases supported, but not very well. Without verifying that when the 765 initiates the call, PPP actually gets negotiated successfully, it's hard to say. Console into it, and give a DIAG PPP ON before starting the call. Usually, it's just something in phase 3 (Network Control Protocol) that doesn't get negotiated correctly that stops the layer 3 traffic from passing.
