LRE connectivity problems

We are currently implementing a 2900XL LRE switch and 48 port POTS splitter with 575 CPE devices.

We have a Nortel Meridian 1 Option 11 PBX switch and a variety of phones.

We are expieriencing a data connectivity problem that seems to happen every 3-5 minutes whether or not you are using the phone. XP reports that the ethernet was unplugged, pings timeout, telnet sessions drop and transfers fail. The connectivity comes back ok after about 10-15 seconds. After setting a constant ping going after 3000 pings this resulted in approx 8-10% loss. We do get Reed Solomon errors when this happens.

Any ideas?

Hi Nick,

Is the connectivity problem between the Nortel switch and the phones?

Try using a different vendor phone and see if the problem still persists.

You could also check for loose connections and change the cables to isolate any physical layer issues.
