Memory Allocation Failure

I recently experienced an STP event caused by the introduction of a physical loop. During convergence every switch on the segement, around 26 assorted 3750,3550,2950 and 3500xl, all suffered memory allocation failures indicated by syslog messages such as the following:

SYS-2-MALLOCFAIL Critical 5969: GMT: Memory allocation of 1680 bytes failed from 0x152778, pool I/O, alignment 0 local use - level 3

Was wondering if anyone else has experienced widespread memory issues following STP convergence and any possible causes.

The memory allocation problem means that a process has tried to allocate memory for its needs but the allocation is not successful. The memory can be allocated from processor pool that is used for the process itself or from IO pool that is used to keep a network packet until it is processed by CPU.

You can try out the following to correct the issue. They are disconnecting links, reloading switches, etc.,
