I have a Cisco 831 which I'm assuming has a missing IOS.
When I power up the router instead of going through the normal POST; and for lack of a better term it's putting out a bunch of goble-di-goop..
I am unable to type in any type of command using the CLI because the router is not getting to any type of command line to do so, not even as much as rommon. So what I'm thinking this bad boy has no IOS what so ever.
Now the question I have is, is there anyway to force an IOS on to this router or is it beyond that option and I need to purchase another?
Below is the out-put when I power on the router...

Hi James,
It looks like the console port speed may have changed from the default ( 9600,n,8,1)
try setting the serial port speed on your terminal emulator ( eg hyperterminal) to different values - eh 2400, 9600, 57000 etc, ensure you restart your emulator each time you change settings.
once you have turned the gobble-di-goop back into Enlish, you can then type DIR to check your flash for an image.
Hope this helps,
Rowan

Rowan,
Thank you for taking the time and looking at the mess I have gotten myself into.
I will try different speed settings on my emulater to see if that if I can able to get and follow up later with my results
Thanks again,
James

I'm not seeing anything that resembles the 12.3 ios..
Is there anyway to force an ios onto the router?
Please advise,
James
