multiple 3550 Switch Stack gigastack configuration vs 6500 switches

We are looking at replacing our current 6509 which is viewed as a single point of failure with an gigastacked cluster of 3550 Gigastacked or 3750 Switch Stack cluster, or similar group of switches..

Price is the main issue as we can build the entire swtiching structure for less than the cost of a second 6509 which I think we are using less than 5% of resources and maybe 70% capacity but dont know that we have ability to go with multiple switches in Safe configuration. Can someone tell me draw backs pluses and minus's to this kind of configuration in a datacenter over a 6500 series switch?

thanks

Brett

Higher end device has more advantages than disadvantages. A brief comparison of 6500,3550 and 3750 is available in this pdf
