Hi,

no chance, I'm afraid.

This feature is not supported anymore.

"The multi-VLAN port feature is supported only on the Catalyst 2900 XL/3500 XL series switches. This feature is not supported on the Catalyst 4000/5000/6000 series or any other Cisco Catalyst switches."

See http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/793/lan_switching/3.pdf

What purpose do you require this feature for?

Whouldn't it be possible to use PVLAN, voice VLAN or trunk port instead of it?

Rgeards,

Milan

Well Milan,

I need it for some privilidged users like top level managers that will be a part of different VLANs, I have tried it with trunk ports but due to the 802.1q encapsulation its not working as the other end is only PC's.PVLAN , ... can u tell me more how can i do it on that.

Hi Omar,

my idea was you could use community VLANs for particular workstation groups and make the managers the promiscuous ports (see http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/lan/cat4000/8_3/configur/vlans.htm#wp1028273).

But I've never implemented PVLANs in a production network...

Regarding 802.1q:

AFAIK, some NICs support it on WindowsXP or Windows2003 server. But probably not on a manager notebook...

I'd try to solve your requirements by putting top managers to a special VLAN and configure inter-VLAN routing with ACLs restricting access between VLANs on your L3 device (router, L3 switch).

Regards,

Milan
