Need some help in configuration

Hi!

First of all I am a newbie in the Cisco field. I am trying to cofigure a Cisco 1720 Router. I am using a cable which in one end has a RJ45 connector(connected to the console) and the other end is DB9 (connected to my W2K PC COM2 port). I start a Hyperterminal session (9600bits/sec,8,None,1,None) but all I get is the cursor flashing and nothing else. Is there something wrong with what I try to do? Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated as this thing is wasting me a lot of time.

1. try com1. do you get a connected message at the bottom of hyperterm?

are you running anything like hotsync for palm ?

are you using the rj-45 that came with the router ?

Try port com1. And also check RJ-45 cable is proper. try establishing connection from the connect prompt again.
