No connection - URGENT!!!

I turned on ip routing on my Cat 3550-EMI as I wanted to allow eigrp and suddenly lost all connection to it.

What have I done wrong.

You probably have a route pointing the wrong direction, or autosummary caused a problem.... Is your onyl access to the router telnet? Is there someone remote who can just turn it off an on (since there's no way you could have saved the config if you lost connection to it)?

Unless you can get to the router through some other means--a dial in through a modem to the console, or something of that nature, then we're not going to be able to figure out what's going on. My immediate guess is that you are routing traffic the wrong way, due to some dup address spaces, or possibly autosummary.

I just read your other post, as well. Assuming that there is a link between the two routers at the remote site, you might be able to telnet to at least one of the two of them. In that case, you should be able to telnet to the other router at the remote site, then telnet from that router to the router you've lost contact with, and check out the routing table and configuration.

Routing doesn't impact telnet between directly connected devices, unless you have a route with a long prefix point the wrong way for the interface address of the one of the two routers themselves.
