Hello,
In a ospf network , what is the criteria for the selection of a router as ASBR.
In case two routers r1 & r2
static subnets-->r2(area 100) -->r0(area 0,100)-->r0(area0,200)--->static sub
Note: All routers connected with point -to-to point links
are redistributing its connected subnets, what is the constraint for selecting a router as a ASBR as r1 or r2 .
Does the administarative distance/cost of the routing protocol redistributed in the OSPF network decides a router being designated as ASBR ??
Thanks,
Dinesh

ASBR is one which injects routes into OSPF domain that were learned from some other routing protocol. The routes learnt from other routing protocols will be redistributed into OSPF, and this is what determines the criteria for a router to be a ASBR. Administrative distance and cost of routing protocol donot play any role here.
