Could anyone shed any light onto this? My colleagues and i have been having a discussion as to which is the best routing protocol to employ, OSPF or ISIS. We are an ISP and could not find any conclusive information leaning either way. Any input is appreciated.

You won't find any conclusive presentations pointing either way--they both have pro's and con's. It's really going to depend on what you are more comfortable configuring and maintaining in the long run, for the most part. There are a couple of presentations from NANOG about this issue, if you want to go search them out on their web page.

I agree. Difficult to say. Both protocols have their good and bad features.
However, I will say this. If you plan on implementing MPLS CSPF traffic-engineering anytime soon, definitely go with ISIS. The implementation of ISIS TE TLV extensions is much more mature than the implementation of OSPF type-10 LSA's.
