Can the L3 & Policy Based Routing features of a 3550-12T be used to connect a Leased Line Router and the two ADSL routers in load-balancing config. to control the HTTP traffic flow between them (the two 677s)?? - the leased line router is meant for only application traffic and will not handle any HTTP traffic. (The ADSL routers are being supplied by the local PTT and we have no control over their configuration)
As per the tests conducted, the Cisco 3550-12T switch will not fulfil our requirement, as it does Load balancing on layer 4, TCP and UDP port basis, which needs some application server to listen these ports. In our case we have to load balance or route between two routers.
Could someone pls. let me know of a workable solution for this case (scroll down for further details on this case) ????
Customer has one leased (serial) line and two ADSL lines and wants to use both ADSL lines only to pass http traffic and the leased line to pass application
traffic like smtp, etc. As per my knowledge it is possible with Policy Based Routing (PBR) on CISCO router. CISCO router will have one Serial WAN interface and one additional Ethernet interface to connect the ADSL router, as PTT only provides CISCO 677 ADSL routers. Policy Based Routing ( PBR) on CISCO router will route only http traffic coming from internal users to the additional ethernet interface which will be connected to ADSL router and the rest traffic to pass through the Serial WAN interface.
Now the problem is how to make use of another ADSL line? Can we do any load balancing between these two ADSL lines?
Can I connect this second ADSL router to the same Ethernet interface of the first ADSL router by putting a hub? Can we redistribute the traffic between these two ADSL lines ?
