Is policy routing applied on the incoming traffic of an interface only?

Yes, more or less. With route maps, you 'match' incoming conditions and 'set' outgoing conditions. For instance, match incoming IP address and set outbound interface to some value.

By the way, I used to stop for gas in Keflavik occationally. I would liked to have seen it in the summer just once.

So it is applies to in and out traffic with just the route map command...thanks

I hope I am not here in Kef to see another summer myself 2 is plenty

I hope my anwer wasn't misleading. The official Cisco answer is that policy routing applies to incoming *packets* only but in reality, of course, there is an outbound aspect - the 'set' portion of the route map.

You can also apply policy routing for traffic locally generated from the device with something like ...

conf t

ip local policy route-map PBR

(hope that helps)
