port chanelling 2900xl with cat5500

Hi,

I'm trying to setup port channel between Cat2900xl and Cat5500 so there would be 200mb connection between them.

I issued "set port channel 4/23-24 mode on" on Cat5500 and issued "port group 2" on interface 23&24 on Cat2900xl.

Well, it didn't work. :( All of the server on Cat2900xt switch dropped.

Does anyone know what did I do wrong?? And can anyone direct me to solve this problem??

set port channel xxx mode on tells the switch to go straight tho channeling, do not negotiate the channel with then neighbor. In catos there are two steps. Form the channel group then set its mode to desireable or on. The 2900 is probably trying to negotiate, try desireable on the 5500.

First do sho port capabil on the 550 and see how the ports can be grouped. Then try sh channel group and see if 4/23-24 are a channel group.
