Port intermittently working

Hi all,

Anybody encounter issue with Cisco Catalyst c2950 whose ports have been working properly for a few weeks and all of a sudden, one or 2 ports not working. Even I go to that port and do a no shutdown but the port refuses to be alive.

Then I think there should not be anything wrong with the configuration and I did a reload on the box.

Surprisingly everything is back to normal.

Any idea ?

I guess you´ve checked the cables and the other device? What if you do a show interface.. Any errors?

I did a show interface, it has no errors and both the interface and line protocol is down as the link is not there anymore.

Ports of Cisco devices will not stay up if the device connected to them is not responding, you will see port go up and down. Check the machine connected to your 2950 and the cables...
