problem mapping drive over VPN - W2k

Dear Support,

Was wondering if anyone could give me some advice, or tell me it is a windows issue.

Have setup a vpn between two sites to add bandwidth rather than the expenses of upgrading the FR.

I am able to ping, tftp, web browse across the vpn, but if i try to map a drive by name it fails. I can however map via IP address. The mapping by name works on the FR.

Thanks in advance.... think it is a windows thing?

Hi,

How are you allocating addressing information to your clients?

Have you configured a WINS server IP address to be allocated to your clients from your VPN device?

run "ipconfig /all" on your windows client to check for a WINS server.

There is a useful link here all about such issues, i think its more than likely a WINS problem as you can't map or ping by name!
