Protect switch from excessive collisions

Hi all,

I currently have 1 x 3550 aggregator connecting 5 x 3550 48 port switches. There are some hubs and switches uplinking to those 3550s for my user access.

Question is: is it possible to 'close' one port automatically in order to protect it if a hub has a high number of collisions without affecting the rest of the 3550 48 port switch?

This recently happened (crazy hub with lots of collisions) and the whole switch went down!

Many thanks in advance ,

K.

Hi,

You can try

"errdisable detect cause all "

I hope this will reoslve your issue. This will put that interface into errdisable state and later you can bring it back from that state with errdisable recovery or shut/no shut.
