We have a network running PVST+
We use IOS switches an CAT-OS switches.
We want to migrate to MSTP
I have red the configuration guides and see in the CAT-OS guide 7.6 that there is a downwards compatibility between PVST+ and MISTP. Later in the same document I see suddenly MST.
Question1: what is the difference between MISTP and MST. Is MST also downwards compatible with PVST+.
Q2: In the IOS documents I dont see this. There I see MST is the older Cisco pre-std from MSTP ( NOT MISTP or so)
Who has the expertise to explain this in a clear way?
Thanks in advance...

That url doesn't answer my questions. What is the differance between MISTP and MST
if you read the documentation you have two options mistp and mst
set spantree mode pvst+ [mistp | pvst+ | mistp-pvst+ | mst]
Who has the expertise to explain this in a clear way?
Thanks in advance...
