Hello,
We are going to change our change our CNRs (with DHCP Failover) from 2 servers to another 2 servers (version : 5.09)
I tried to make a test as following :
- install the new server, put the license, stop the CNR service.
- stop the old server
- copy de <>\DATA\DB\MCDDB.D0? files from the old server into the new server.
- have a keybuild & dbcheck -a. on the new server
- modify failover config on the new server.
- restart CNR service on the new server.
Sometimes I get an "Unexpected Response From Server" when I reload the DHCP server. After a 2nd dbcheck, it works well.
But I don't retrieve the leases on the new server...
Did I miss something ? Do I have to export then import the leases ?
(disable or enable failover does not change this situation).
Thanks for your help.

Did you by any chance ever figure this out?

I haven't solved the problem yet.

The trick would have been to do what you have done, but not stop at just copying individual files. I usually install on the new server/stop services on old and new/copy the data dir and it's child dirs right over the new install data dir and children/re-ip the new machine to equal the old/remove the old from the wire/start services. This would bring all that you need to to swap the platform without loss of lease data or state.
