I need to keep copies of the configuration for a router that is on a secure segment of my network. Thus I want to provide as little access to the router as possible through telnet and snmp. In reading all the TAC Authored Notes on RME and transport protocols, it appears that to pull running and startup configurations that I should only need a Read-Only and Read-Write string. However, I cannot pull configurations without using the telnet and enable passwords - and the RW string is not needed. What gives? This is RME 3.4 on Solaris 8 - CD One 5th Edition. Under transport protocols I have the list as TFTP, TELNET, SSH, RCP with the RCP disabled box checked.
