Routed Core with Catalyst 6500 with Sup 2

I recently took over a network and the previous engineer had setup a routed core with a 6500 and a Sup 2. I am not familiar with this kind of setup. Can someone tell me where I can find some documentation about this kind of setup? We are using Native IOS.
