My customer encountered problem when discovering routers using W2K LMS 2.0 ANI server. They got a 7507 router in central site and various types of routers in different countries as remote sites(25xx, 36xx, etc). All routers are connected using frame relay, cdp enabled and with same SNMP community string. They can all be seen in central site router using show cdp nei. However, only 1 remote site router can be discovered. Also, the cisco devices behind this remote site router cannot be discovered. They also have the same community string and can be seen from this remote site router using cdp.
I tried adding each remote site router as seed device, but still only that mentioned remote site router can be discovered. All remote routers can be ping from W2K server.
Does someone have experience managing such WAN network using ANI discovery?

Hello,
look at http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/rtrmgmt/cw2000/camp_mgr/sup_dev/index.htm for a list of supported devices.
Don't use routers as seed devices, use switches.
Are you using a DNS, access-list or firewalls?
Let's me know.
Andrea.

The devices should be supported. However, does the ios version matter?
When doing discovery using ANI server, ip addresses are used. DNS is used in the network such that hostnames can be seen after discovery.
No access-list or firewalls are in place. Actually all local devices can be discovered.
