Router refuse to automatically load start-configs on booting up

Hi friends,

My routers 2500 and 2500 failed to automatically load start-configurations when they were reset. I have to manually copy run to start before they work. Can anyone tell me what to do?

Thank you.

Make sure the config-register is set to 0x2102. You can chack that with a "sh ver" (last line od the output). To set it, go in global configuration mode and type "config-register 0x2102".

This should solve your problem.

Sir,

The config-register is presently showing 0x2142

If I change the config-reg to 0x2102 will it not affect the performance of the router because I am using the router at a premises of a tough customer?

Thank you.

Hello,

you need to reboot the router for the new configuration register settings to take effect. Other than that there will be no effect on the performance of the router.

GP
