RSPAN configuration on C4000, VLAN assignment

I am not quite sure with RSPAN configuration on the Catalyst 4000 switch with CatOS.

--

E.g. Source switch………source port 1/1 - VLAN10, RSPAN VLAN 777, reflector port 3/1

set rspan source 1/1 777 reflector 3/1

Destination switch…….destination port 5/5

set rspan destination 5/5 777

--

What VLAN should be configured on the reflector and destination ports?

--

I suppose that reflector port should be in VLAN 777 (RSPAN port) and destination port could be in any VLAN e.g. 1.

Is it right?

Hi David,

we dont have to put Reflector port in the membership of any vlan actually, it works with RSPAN vlan.

After putting the commnd "set rspan source 1/1 777 reflector 3/1" if you check "sh rspan" you will see that RSPAn vlan is 777.

RSPAN destination port on destination switch can be in any vlan.

Here is a document which will give you sample configs and guidelines of RSPAN :
