show ip igmp statistics shows all counters to be zero

Folks,

I have a 6509 running CATOS and i am trying to configure multicasting on it. When i enable multicast routing on it it should be multicast groups and all the other multicast related stuff, but, does not show me "show ip igmp statistics" , all counters are zero. Any ideas?
