Hi,

Can anybody explain what does cisco try to say from the following command

rmon collection host {controlEntry integer} [owner ownername]

integer - A value from 1 to 65535 that identifies the RMON group of statistics and matches the index value returned for Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) requests

My question goes here

1. What is meant by "index value returned for SNMP requests"?

2. Shall the integer value be selected by random or each number has specific meaning

The index here is an entry in the hostControl table. Each such entry defines a function that discovers hosts on a particular interface and places statistics about them in the hostTable and the hostTimeTable on behalf of this hostControlEntry. To find more info on this, search for the keyword "hostControlIndex" in the following document :
