Sorry about the blank post, finger trouble.

I have a 3548 switch, installed and working for the past 3 years.

This morning all users atatched to the switch could not access the network.

I could Telnet to the switch and the TACACS+ worked. All seemed ok with switch, except; Uptime was only 15 mins,(partner switch in same cabinet up over one year). VTP and NTP working OK.

Switch error log FULL of

%LINK-4-ERROR: FastEthernet0/26 is experiencing errors for all connected ports.

No port lights on front panel of switch for connected devices.

Reboot of switch, POST all OK but same problem persists.

IOS is 12.0(5.3)WC(1), MAINTENANCE INTERIM SOFTWARE

Any ideas?

There is no maintenance contract on this device!

Hi,

As POST indicates that hardware is all OK. and in switch log also there are no speial error messages like switch crash or tracebacks.

this could be a software problem as well. This switch is running a maintenence interim software, and it is not a fully published IOS and be called testing IOS . I would suggest you to upgrade the IOS version to 12.0(5)WC10. that should take care of this problem.
