TFTP transfer problems

I am trying to upgrade multiple 1841 routers with a new ios which is IOS Software-12.4.24T5 advanced security.

The Routers have 256 dram and 64 flash

Min Requirements are 192/64 for the new ios.

the ios file is about 32 mb in size and i have made at least 36 mb in free space.

what happens is when I attempt to load the ios onto the router the transfer will reach about 98 percent, it will then restart the transfer from 0 bytes and then proceed to load another 5 mb and then errors out with the

No space left on device message.

I have also tried deleting the current ios file freeing another 22 mb in space and it will do the same thing, restarts after 98 percent then keeps loading until i get a no space left on device message.

It's almost as if it is loading it twice.

Please Advise,

Kyle Sartoris

Most likely your tftp server is broken / outdated.

Many older tftp server implementations have a restriction on the maximum file size: 32MB.

From your symptoms it looks a lot like this could be the issue.

Please use another tftp server, preferrably linux based.

Leo

lgijssel, your deduction was spot on.

I was using pumpkin tftp server, which must have been an older version

I tried the solar winds tftp server which was suggest by collin and it worked fine.

Thank you both,
