VLAN to Gateway

Hi

I have a scenario where i need to segment one of the subnet in to seperate VLAN segment so that they dont communicate directly. There is no need for them to communcate between each other. However, they will communicate to any external network such as public Internet through a router.

I have 5 such VLAN in the cisco 2950 and i would like all VLAN to communicate using one ethernet port on the router. Is this possible? Do i have to go for five ethernet ports on the router?

You can do this with subinterfaces on your ethernet interface. It is commonly called "router on a stick." The switch and the router will establish an ISL (Inter Switch Link) to handle traffic from different VLANs.
