What is the maximum transfer rate of BVI interface?

Hi All,

I have a dedicated T3 between my two remote offices with a 3640 on one end and a flexwan on the other end.

For redundancy, I created a BVI bridge interface on the 3640. Currently I'm using TAR command to transfer data between these two sites and I'm getting about ~12GB /hr, but I was expecting to get about 15-18Gb/hr. Is the BVI interface my problem?

Take into account that in every packet, you have headers, footers, preambles, etc etc. There are quite a few factors to add into the mix, but even all those notwithstanding, you are not going to sustain at the full pipe's speed. Burst, yes...sustain, no. Signaling and clocking have to be taken into account as well.
