Hi All
Why should not we use the key word "mop" of the "boot system mop" command on 3600 and 7000 series routers?
Thanks and regards

Hello Vijay
Router boots from IOS file located in Flash implicitly. but if you want to change that behaviour and wanted to boot from TFTP server you have to specify explicitly the booting behaviour with the command:
( when router finds no IOS file in flash router tries to boot from a tftp server by default)
boot system
where keword may be
1) flash --Boot from flash memory
2) ftp -- Boot from a server via ftp < this is used when u want to boot from a ftp server and u have a copy of IOS file in that ftp server>
4) mop -Boot from a Decnet MOP server
5) rcp - Boot from a server via rcp
6) rom - Boot from rom
7) tftp - boot from a tftp server
so the mop is also a type of protocol u use to boot an IOS image not located in router's flash/rom and is located external to the router(i.e in a server)
thank u

Yes, we can't use it on 3600 and 7000 family routers. it is mentioned in the following document.
http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/software/ios123/123tcr/123tfr/cfrgt_01.htm#1030929
let me investigate it.
thanks
