Windows Logon cat 3550

Hello All,

I have windows XP machines loging onto a win2k box. All machines are connected to a 3550 switch. It takes about 40 seconds to logon. DNS is working properly and I enabled portfast on the switch but still no difference. If I logoff and then logon or, reboot the switch I connect at normal speeds. Could this be the switch? Thanks in advance.

It could still be the switch. The port is probably not coming up fast enough, and is losing the first frames, e.g. DHCP. The portfast shortcuts the 30 seconds it would normally take for the Spanning Tree to come up, but there might still be other negotiation taking place to slow things down.
