Wireless only for enterprise office?

So our company is remodeling one of our buildings and it has been suggested we look at eliminating cable to the desktop and go to a wireless only model. The building is approx 42,000sft of mixed office space covering two floors, divided up into four wings supporting about 300 end users . Obviously there are many variables to consider for such a deployment, but since it's merely exploratory at the moment, I'm just wondering if anyone else out there has done anything similar and if so, what were some of your primary hurdles you had to overcome?

Devil's Advocate:  And how are desk phones going to be cabled up or wireless?

Rich,

I'm suspecting that this will be the company's FIRST "foray" (or experiment) in an all-wireless environment.

I strongly recommend someone get a wireless site survey done by a professional.

What model of AP?  What model  of controller?

802.1X?

Yes, it would be our first site to migrate to an all wireless environment. At the moment, we're running 5508 controllers with 3702 AP's.

I've managed to find read quite a few white papers touting the "inevitable" transition to all wireless deployments, but I think most of that is marketing speak.

As far as Jabber usage goes? We're still in POC/phased testing at the moment with mixed results.
