Wrong values on ATM interface on CAT5500

We have a CAT5500 with a ATM module that is running on IOS 12.0(19)W5(23). When i do a "show interface ATM 0" i see that the output rate on the interface is very variable. At one moment it is 200Mbit and the next moment it is only a few 100Kbit. I also measuring the interface with MRTG and i see a very bursting traffic graph. So i have the feeling that the counters are not correct on this interface.

Does anyone know more about this problem?

Not sure what problem you are anticipating from the output. I guess it might depend on the class of service that you are using on the device. If you have access to Bug toolkit, you can check if there are any known issues with the hardware and software that you are using.
