4507R backplane redundancy

Hello,

I wonder if the redundancy on a 4507R chassis includes some kind of backplane redundancy. Dual power, dual supervisors are good but if there is a single backplane that is a single point of failure.

I have not been able to find the info.

Does anyone have information or references or experience (like a backplane failure) about that ?

Thanks in advance

Didier

As far as i know there is no actual backplane redundancy in either the 4500 or 6500 switches. The most likely components to fail are supervisors/power supplies which is why you make these redundant. A chassis failure can only be protected against by having another chassis and really that is what we are referring to when talking about the backplane.
