Hello,
I am trying to determine if CATos for a Catalyst 3550 supports SSH in any particular release. I have found documentation on CCO that states the IOS version that supports SSH is 12.1(11)EA1 and later. I have also found reference that states that the 3550XL does not support SSH. Any help in clarifying this based on 3550 platforms and variants would be much appreciated.

The Catalyst 3550 supports SSH but you must be running the Crypto version. It is available in both the SMI & EMI Crypto versions - any version after 12.1(11)EA1 I presume, although I would recommend either 12.2(25)SEB or 12.1(22)EA4.
The Catalyst 3500XL (and 2900XL) do not support SSH as there are no Crypto image available for these switches.

Thanks Andy for the quick reply. So I am safe to say only the cryto images as stated for IOS and no CATos SSH support for any 3550 series of the switch?

Andy,
I did not find a 12.2(25)SEB image that indicated it was a crypto image, yet I did find 12.2(25)SE and SEA crypto images. What is the difference between SE and SEA and which one do you recommend? I did find the 12.1(22)EA4 Crypto image, but what is the reason I would use 12.1(22)EA4 over 12.2(25)SE, SEA, SEB, visa versa?

There are Crypto images of all the IOS versions you listed - they are reachable from either the LAN Switching or IOS Download pages.
For the differences between versions you need to read the release notes. Generally for a new installation I would use the latest image available (after a quick read through the release notes to make sure there are no BIG open caveats etc). For an existing installation I would read the release notes and see what fixes are included over the current release, plus what new features are available and whether the fixes/new features are relevent.
