I want to let my Cat6509 switch with routing capabilities do the inter-VLAN routes (which I found documentation on how to do) and have it pass traffic external to our VLANs to our 3600 series router (which I can find no documentation on). How do I set this up?

Cisco IOS Doc is available on this site.
Add another vlan with one port, connect that port to the router, ( I'm assuming you have the correct interfaces on the router) The router can then advertise a route to 0.0.0
Anything not destined for a local subnet will hit the router

The Cat6500 switches internal router config will not let me set static routes to point default traffic to a particular gateway interface (like the routers). How does the switch know to send traffic outside of its set of VLAN virtual interface subnets out to the router?
