There are one central and some remote offices in our organization. This offices are connected with ATM network of the service provider. Remote offices are connected to ATM cloud with Frame Relay links and central office has ATM link to this cloud.
Unfortunately ATM provider equipment does not support FRF.8. They can only provide FRF.5 to us.
One way to terminate FrameRelay PVCs in central office is to use two boxes. First box is attached to ATM cloud with ATM interface and connected to second box with serial interface. Second box is connected to central office LAN. First box convers conver ATM to FR. Second box terminates PVCs on FR subinterfaces and perform ip routing. Disadvantages are narrow serial link between two boxes (max 2Mb) and using two different boxes.
QUESTION:
Can we use one box (preferably cisco 3600 or 7200) for this task?

You can configure the encapsulation as
encapsulation frame-relay ietf
instaed of - cisco which is the default.
The following is a very useful link which explains the interoperability between FRF.5 and FRF.8 modes
