How do I split out shapes from Cisco Visio stencils?

I'm really flummoxed. I pulled down the PPT stencils, as well as the other one that's monochrome, and installed them fine.

The problem occurs when I want to use one of the shapes that has two versions of itself in the same shape, e.g. "Route/Switch Processor with and without Si." It has two 'shapes' together built into one shape, and I only want one of the two.

How do I pull the shapes apart, and then save them as separate shapes?

Note there are several shapes that have been created this way... Frustrating!

Thanks in advance for any help. Don't know if this is the right forum, or if I have to go somewhere else.

Hi,
I don't know if this is an issue with Visio or with the stencils but this is how I deal with it.

Click on the shape then press CTRL+SHIFT+U to ungroup the shapes. (or Shape menu - Grouping - Ungroup)

Now the shape will break apart and reveal all of its parts.

Click on and then delete the parts you don't need.

Use the mouse to select everything that is left and then press CTRL + SHIFT + G to group the shapes. (or Shape menu - Grouping - Group)

That should work but there may be a better way.

Cheers,

JF

P.S. I'm using Visio 2007

Hi Jeremy,

I belive as suggested you can ungroup the icons in PPT and can use for other purposes. Is those objects are editable or not.

If you can ungroup then you can copy and save separately.

Hope that Help..
